TRAUMA LITERACY THEATRE & FILM PROGRAM

GHEF’s Trauma Literacy Theatre & Film Program builds foundational understanding of trauma by combining live performance with facilitated dialogue and film-based workshops. It began with Ghosts, a theatre project directed by Stefan Herrmann in Bonn to explore the psychological impact of forced displacement on Syrian families. Evolving into Shadows, the program adapted this content into a film format, expanding its reach and sparking participatory discussions in Bonn, Berlin, San Francisco, and Zurich.

Designed to educate community leaders and adults on recognizing trauma symptoms and developing non-judgmental, individualized first steps toward seeking help, this program emphasizes a safe, inclusive process where participants build practical knowledge and agency together. We invite you to explore its milestones and to contact us for detailed materials, technical assistance, or coaching to implement trauma literacy workshops within your own community.
